“Wait…what was that character’s name?” she asked 10 seconds after putting the book down.

Let’s Discuss: Forgetting Book Details
There are very few books that I’ve read that I remember clearly and instantly the characters names. Unless they’re very memorable, or I’ve re-read the book a million times (Harry Potter) or I just really loved the book, that information is dumped from my brain immediately.
What book details do you forget? Names, places or even general plot?
I am usually pretty good with the general plot, but I’ve been known to get fuzzy on that info too, depending on how long it’s been.
Do you have a great memory for book details? Or is it more selective – only specific books or authors?
If I don’t take notes on a book I read for the blog, then it’s gone. Just gone. I’m left with a general sense of why I liked/disliked the book but not the reasons why I arrived at that feeling.
It’s torture.
So tell me: do you hold on to or forget book details?
